How to Make $3,000 a Month with Your Blog: From Passion to Profit

Hey mama, I see you. You’re staying up late after the kids are in bed, typing with one hand while holding a bottle in the other, pouring your heart into your blog. Maybe it started as a creative outlet, a place to share your parenting journey, or simply a way to reclaim a piece of your identity beyond motherhood. But what if I told you your little corner of the internet could actually make money and turn your passion to profit?

I started my blog since 2019 almost right after my baby girl was born, in the middle of naptime chaos, with minimal tech skills and even less spare time.

Today, my blog generates consistent monthly income, all while letting me forego the traditional 9-5 job and being able to work from home (or anywhere) on my own schedule, spend more time with my daughter, and build a brand I’m proud of.

Let’s break down real, proven ways you can monetize your mom blog, and how some of the tools like Bluehost, Printful, Printify, Castmagic, Kit, and ManyChat have helped me grow faster, smarter, and easier.

💻 1. The Passion to Profit Journey Starts With a Solid Foundation: Hosting With Bluehost

Before we get into monetization, let’s talk setup. If you don’t have a blog yet, your first step is creating one—and I highly recommend starting with Bluehost.

Here’s why:

It’s beginner-friendly (literally 1-click WordPress installation). You get a free domain name. Affordable pricing for moms on a budget. 24/7 customer support—I’ve leaned on them during many late-night tech mishaps.

🌼 Step-by-Step Guide to Set Up Your Blog with Bluehost:

1. Go to Bluehost. Click Get Started and choose a basic plan (perfect for beginners).

2. Pick a domain name that fits your brand. Set up WordPress in one click.

3. Choose a theme that suits your vibe—there are heaps of free ones to choose from! I’m currently using Woosify for my site because it gives me a clean, streamlined layout that works perfectly for both my blog and my merch store.

4. Start customizing your blog and writing your first post.

I launched mine during a nap window—and I promise, if I can do it with a toddler underfoot, you can too.

💰 2. Affiliate Marketing: Recommend What You Already Love

This is one of the easiest ways to start monetizing your blog. You promote products you use and love, and if someone buys through your link, you earn a small commission.

How To Get Started:

For beginners, the easiest way is to start joining programs like Amazon Associates.

It’s one of the world’s largest and most beginner-friendly affiliate programs, giving you the ability to generate unique affiliate links for millions of products.

Write blog posts like “10 Must-Have Items for Toddler Moms” and sprinkle in your affiliate links. Share honest reviews—trust builds conversions.

Whenever someone clicks your link and makes a purchase, you earn a commission. This is a great starting point for bloggers, content creators, or anyone new to monetizing their online presence because you don’t need a huge following to begin—just a platform where you can share your links.

As your online presence grows and you build a stronger personal brand, you can take things a step further with the Amazon Influencer Program.

This program goes beyond simple affiliate links. It gives you your own customizable Amazon storefront such as this one of mine, where you can curate and recommend products all in one place.

You can also create shoppable content, including photos and videos, that live directly on Amazon product pages, which increases your earning potential even more.

I actually started out as an Amazon Associate, testing the waters and learning how to recommend products to my audience.

Over time, as my platform and influence grew, I transitioned into the Amazon Influencer Program as soon as I have grown to more than 1,000 followers on my Instagram account. I now enjoy more tools, visibility, and ways to connect authentically with my audience while monetizing my content.

🛍 Try this: Create a product kit using Kit.co like “My Stay-at-Home Mom Tech Tools” and include your affiliate links for products like cameras, planners, or podcast mics.

🔗 Start curating your affiliate kits on Kit.co.

Some of my other affiliate platforms are PartnerStack, Commission Factory, Awin and Shopify Collab. Where I collab with more than 50 brands across all these platforms and earning a consistent affiliate commission month by month.

🤝 3. Sponsored Posts and Reels: Get Paid to Create

Once your blog has some traction, brands may pay you to write posts about their products. I landed my first sponsorship with a baby food brand—and let me tell you, that $150 felt like a million bucks!

Tips for Sponsored Success:

Start reaching out to brands directly with a media kit. Use platforms like JoinBrands, Tribe, Intellifluence, Insense or AspireIQ. Always disclose paid collaborations.

📥 4. Email and Chat Marketing: Build Your Tribe

An engaged email list is one of the most underrated monetization strategies. It’s your direct line to readers who care.

Tools to Use:

ManyChat: For Facebook/Instagram DMs and Messenger automation.

Kit (previously ConvertKit): For email marketing and lead magnets. This Kit is different from the earlier mentioned Kit

🔥 I use ManyChat to DM followers free printables and link them to my affiliate kits, digital products, blog posts or sign up to our email Newsletters.

🔗 Build your audience and automate your messages with ManyChat. Connect with them and build a long lasting relationship with Kit!

Get started with access to Manychat basic features to engage up to 1,000 contacts FREE OF CHARGE.

🛍️ 5. Sell Digital Products

This has been one of my biggest game-changer.

What You Can Sell:

Printables: Like baby milestone trackers or chore charts.

Ebooks: Parenting guides or meal prep plans.

Courses: Teach what you know—sleep schedules, toddler routines, or budgeting for moms.

You can sell digital products on platforms like Etsy, where trust has already been established, so people are less likely to question their authenticity. This helps build traffic quickly and attract potential customers faster than starting from a brand-new blog or website.

However, it’s still ideal to also list the same products on your own site to reduce the considerable maintenance and transaction costs associated with selling exclusively on Etsy.

My pro tip: I used Castmagic to repurpose my podcast episodes into transcripts and outlines for my first mini ebook.

👕 6. Print-on-Demand (POD): Sell Merch Without Shipping

Want to sell t-shirts, mugs, or totes—but hate the idea of packaging and shipping?

Use print-on-demand services like Printful or Printify

You upload a design, they handle the rest. I launched a line of “Coffee, Chaos, and Cuddles” mugs through Printful—and they make adorable gifts!

🔗 Design and sell merch with Printful or compare prices on Printify.

Suzi Whitford made her first $1,000 in June 2016, just a few months after launching her blog, Start a Mom Blog.

Suzi Whitford made her first $1,000 in June 2016, just a few months after launching her blog, Start a Mom Blog. Within six months of hitting that first milestone, her income grew to over $17,000 per month, and a few years later, she was making over $30,000 per month, according to a 2021 report.

Remember, in the beginning you don’t need a huge audience—you just need a focused niche, the right monetization strategy, and consistent effort.

As you start to gain traction, you can expand your reach through various channels, such as email marketing to build an audience you truly own, Pinterest boards and Tailwind communities, Instagram growth events, LinkedIn newsletters, and even a YouTube channel.

These strategies will help you scale your connection, awareness, engagement, traffic, and ultimately, conversions.
